We just cannot get over what a great asset the Mississippi Children’s Museum is to our state!

On December 3, 2011, the museum celebrates its first year of providing a unique and exciting educational experience for the children of Mississippi. The exciting exhibits ignite and inspire a thirst for discovery, knowledge and learning!

In celebration of the museum’s first year, we are giving away free admission tickets! All you have to do is write on our Facebook page telling us about a past experience you’ve had at the museum, or if you have never been before, let us know who you want to take!

Name the Mississippi Children’s Museum Gift Shop!

We’re big fans of the Mississippi Children’s Museum! Right now through November 18, you may submit an entry on their Facebook page to help name the gift shop.

Facebook fans will vote on their favorite name from November 18-28, and the entry with the most votes wins a Grand Prize Package from MCM!

1. Find the Louis LeFleur cutout next to the gift shop (right when you walk in, look in the right corner.)

2. Brainstorm a creative and fun name that would represent the MCM gift shop.

3. Write it on the dry erase board. Snap a photo of your child with the cutout!

4. Upload your photo to our Facebook tab called “Name Our Gift Shop!” at facebook.com/MississippiChildrensMuseum.

5. Fans will vote on their favorite name, and the photo with the most votes wins a Grand Prize Package!

Celebrating 10 Years of Soulshine

Chris Sartin opened the doors of the first Soulshine Pizza Factory in February 2001 and has grown the business to three locations in the past 10 years. The restaurant has previously been located in front of the Castlewoods subdivision as well as in downtown Jackson, but now you can enjoy their pizzas and oven-baked po-boys at any of these locations:

Just off the Square in Oxford
Flowood/Reservoir off Old Fannin Road
Ridgeland in the Township at Colony Park

Choose from several creatively named pizzas that are stacked with delicious, quality ingredients that you might not find at your everyday pizza parlor. For example, a new addition to their menu is a pizza called “Sleeps with the Fishes,” which is painted with alfredo sauce then topped with mozzarella cheese, spinach, bell peppers, sauteed shrimp, lump crab meat and goat cheese. We’d like to welcome to the Retriever of Jackson family one of our newest customers: Brent’s Drugs. If you have not yet experienced Jackson’s oldest soda fountain located in the Historic Fondren District, then you are certainly missing out.

Not only is Brent’s Drugs home to one of the best burgers in town, they also serve up mouth-watering milkshake and malts. The diner-style restaurant has an old-fashioned way for you to order your meal, as well. In addition to their amazing food and cozy atmosphere, Brent’s Drugs has also been featured in The Help, which is the highest grossing “made in Mississippi” film to date.
