The Mosaic Shop
The Mosaic Shop, located in Pear Orchard Village off East County Line Road, has been in operation since 2002. Previously located in Texas, owner Wanda Hendrix and her husband moved the shop to Mississippi four years ago to be closer to their grandchildren.
Customers can choose a project and finish it in one sitting or come back as many times as needed at no additional charge. The wood cutout, which is the base for the project, has a price attached that includes glass, tile, jewelry, glue, and anything else you find in the store to create your very own mosaic. Employees will help cut glass, apply grout, and assist you with anything you may need while working.
“The best part is the grout!” Jane Emerson, an enthusiastic customer, exclaimed, “It’s so much fun playing in the sand and getting all messy.”
Tuesday through Saturday from 10am until 6pm and on Sundays from 1pm to 5pm, customers can come and choose from a wide array of projects including but certainly not limited to peace signs, planters, initials, stepping stones, team mascots and windows.
Hendrix explained, “Usually once you have done one mosaic, you’ll get ideas of what you want to do on your second and third visits.”
The Mosaic Shop is a great place to host birthday parties for children or adults, which can even be scheduled outside of normal business hours. Birthday parties receive a price break for volume. Parties can also be ordered to go, and all the needed supplies can be shipped anywhere in the United States. In addition to creating your own artwork, custom work is available.
